It was indeed a human tragedy of unparalleled magnitude which shocked the conscience of the world.The criminal human folly that caused this tragedy has been compounded by indifferent attitude in subsequent years. It is incumbent on us, morally and legally, to do our utmost to support the surviving victims in every manner possible.”

बेहद खौफ़नाक सी, एक ज़हरीली रात
डरे हुए से, सहमे हुए से, सब जज्बात   
फ़िज़ा में घुलती गई, जो मौत धीरे धीरे  
साँसे वो घुटती गई, हुई फ़ौत धीरे धीरे   
सोये हुए थे जो, सब सो गए हमेशा को
रो भी ना पाये, फिर खो गए हमेशा को
क्रूरता है ये, मिथाइलआइसोसाइनाइट की
तबाही है ये, एक ज़हरीले डायनामाइट की
यूनियन कार्बाइड की, ख़ता नाकाबिले माफ़ी है
ज़िन्दगी के बदले, मुआवज़ा नही बस काफ़ी है
आज भी हर पल यहाँ, चींख पुकारें वो गूँज रही है
वक़्त की दहलीज़ पर, अपना पता बस ढूंढ रही है
दफ़्न है जो आहें सब, इन्साफ अब वो मांग रही है
